Daniella is a Morris Animal Foundation postdoctoral fellow in the School of Public Health. She received her PhD from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where her research examined the relationship between body composition, and metabolic and reproductive health in zoo African and Asian elephants. Daniella is conducting fieldwork at Nouabale Ndoki National Park, Republic of Congo and Kibale National Park, Uganda, focusing on how anthropogenic factors relate to forest elephant physiology. In addition, Daniella is working with elephant orphanages in Zambia and South Africa to understand how experiencing early life trauma relates to health, behavior, and cognition.
